“LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.” Psalms 39:4.
It is very easy to bank on what people say we are. But many a time, they miss it. When Jesus Christ asked His disciples the opinion of others about Him, He heard various answers.
“And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am? And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.” Mark 8:27-28.
No matter how close people may be to us, they may not assess us rightly. You and I may not be able to judge ourselves correctly too if God doesn’t show us who we truly are. Hence, the need for David’s prayer: “LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.” Psalms 39:4.
If God doesn’t reveal ourselves to us, there is a tendency to wrongly place ourselves on a pedestal we are not even closed to.
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” Romans 12:3.
The dealings of the Lord would make us see ourselves exactly the way we are. Isaiah was a prophet of God. He had been prophesying accurately about people and nations. A whole city moved when he entered such city. All men and women including kings would say the prophet of God has come. He enjoyed this accolades until one day he had a strange encounter. May you and I encounter God over and over in Jesus name.
“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. … Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Isaiah 6:1,5.
It takes the wisdom and grace of the Lord to let us get it right. “O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!” Deuteronomy 32:29. May you and I get it right in Jesus name.
Leave whatever men think you are and leave your personal opinion behind and face the Lord. Ask Him to show you the hidden part of your life and give you the grace to correct all that needed to be corrected.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, let me see you, see myself and give me the grace to do the needful before I die in Jesus name.
